Classic Lisbon & Sintra Tour in Portugal

Classic Lisbon & Sintra Tour in Portugal

Enjoy both Lisbon and Sintra in a single day.

Spend a few hours discovering Lisbon as you head to the Belém district to encounter some of the most emblematic monuments of the maritime voyages of exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries. There's a stop at the Torre de Belém (UNESCO World Heritage) - a 16th-century fortress and the place of departure for the caravels and explorers that linked up different corners of the world. You'll also see the Monument to the Discoveries, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry, the Navigator. Then there are visits to the Jeronimos' Monastery* (World Heritage by UNESCO) - a masterpiece of the Manueline style, and the Coach Museum* which contains one of the world’s most important and richest coach collections. Continuing along the River Tagus, you'll then visit Alfama, a charismatic historical neighborhood where you'll enjoy port tasting in a handicraft store. Also see the Marquês de Pombal square, via the monumental Praça do Comércio, Rossio, the heart of the city and Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon’s main boulevard.

You will have free time for lunch, after which the tour departs to Sintra, the town where the royal family spent their summers and where you will visit its National Palace.* There is also free time to stop at local handicraft stores or try some of Sintra’s famous pastries before the tour heads to Cabo da Roca* (the most westerly point of mainland Europe) and then along the coast, passing the famous Guincho beach, reaching Cascais, with its Boca do Inferno wave waterspout and a magnificent panorama over the Bay of Cascais. Before returning to Lisbon, you'll tour Estoril, with its famous and very prominent Casino.

Please Note:
*-The Jeronimos' Monastery and the Coach Museum are closed on Mondays, so on Mondays you will visit the Palácio da Ajuda (Ajuda Palace) instead.
*-The National Sintra Palace is closed on Wednesdays, so on Wednesdays you will visit Queluz Palace instead.
*-The tour only visits Cabo da Roca from March through October.
